Two minutes before the Zephyr showed up, I couldn't see the trees on the far side of the tracks! The first two (UP 1422 and UP 1425) both once wore scarlet and gray and were on Espee's roster. The third unit (UP 1370) is of Missouri Pacific ancestry! The West Local, with a pair of covered hoppers, is leaving Leyden after meeting one westbound. The train will diverge from the Main to Main 2 to Arvada, and then the North Yard Siding at C&S Junction. If that plant goes belly up, it'll likely spell the end of the West Local. As it is, the train only runs on Wednesdays...and not every Wednesday! The BNSF manifests that run on the Moffat are almost entirely dominated by tank cars. Most of their trackage rights trains are probably 70%+ tank cars these days. A westbound Denver-Provo waits in the siding as an eastbound Provo-Lincoln rolls down the main. It had a pair of Kansas City Southern Belle's for power! Turns out that power was added as DPUs to the Provo-Lincoln yesterday!
