After nearly a year of construction (start to finish), UP completed Main 2 between C&S Junction and Arvada on May 8, 2012. Here, a few days after opening, a westbound UP coal empty on Main 2 meets the eastbound Beer Run near Sheridan Blvd. The Beer Run will run down to C&S Junction and cross from the Golden Sub to Main 2 and then to Main 3 on in to the yard. Moving up, we see BNSF's Golden Sub, the newly laid and ballasted Arvada Siding, future Main 2 and the train itself on future Main 1 (currently still just the "Main Track"). The old Arvada siding has been ripped out (the old switch is laying on the ground in this shot) and the rails and ties for the future Main 2 have been laid. Here at the Sheridan Blvd overpass, the UP track foreman in charge sits in his truck talking to an eastbound train that will be coming on the Moffat. That train has to get talked past a red board (think stop sign) into the track limits. Why? So the foreman can ensure all the track workers (seen to the right) are in the clear, know about the train, and won't get hit.
