The original Amtrak P42 painted in the Phase IV heritage scheme was AMTK 184. AMTK 184 was in need of a new paint job, but went it went in to the repair shop at Beech Grove a few months ago, people were surprised to see it emerge wearing the standard Phase V scheme. Turns out Amtrak did not have the supplies at the time to repaint AMTK 184 in Phase IV. With the supplies finally procured, AMTK 164 was repainted in the Phase IV heritage scheme. This is its maiden voyage wearing its new scheme.

About 36 miles west of Denver Union Station, the westbound Zephyr is nearly 8,000 feet above sea level as it passes a green signal at the east end of Cliff. The Continental Divide stands tall, still largely covered in snow, to the west. The photography, yours truly, stand high on a rock, watching the Zephyr pass by below.
