Trains departing UP's North Yard to the east do so on the Belt Industrial Lead. About a half mile east from the yard, this manifest is approaching the control point at Broadway. It is here that the Bypass tracks (visible to the right) converge with the Belt Lead. The Bypass tracks were built around 2004 as a shortcut for coal trains that did not need to enter North Yard. Note the old water tank at Utah Junction visible in the distance to the right.

An eastbound UP oil train rolls through CP DS901 (Stock Yards) on the 4-mile long Belt Industrial Lead which connects North Yard to UP's Greeley Sub and Limon Sub. The train is passing by Xcel Energy's Cherokee Power Plant. The plant generates 928 megawatts of power for the Denver area. It was built as a coal-burning plant in 1968, that was served by Rio Grande (and later SP and UP) for decades. However, in 2017, the plant converted to natural gas and has not burned coal since.

UP 5929 is running across the 4 mile long Belt Industrial Lead that connects the Greeley Subdivision to North Yard and the Moffat Tunnel Sub, as well as the Joint Line to the south. The train is approaching the Stock Yards control point. The track at the bottom of the screen runs south and serves many customers in the area. In the background stands Xcel Energy's Cherokee Generating Station. It was powered by coal for decades, but for the several years now it is powered by natural gas.
