The tarp start to come off the nose first. Several people help to get it up over the nose…is that black under there?

If we were to compare the front of the Rio Grande Heritage Unit to the front of an F7A, I wonder how close the Aspen Gold would match!?

Forgive the fence rising up into the picture, but there was (unfortunately) no way around it. Aspen Gold covers the front of UP 1989, although it is interesting to note that the ditch lights are black!

UP 5245 is a very special GP40-2. At the time of the picture, it was one of the few GP40-2's that hadn't been moved to the 1300-1500 number range. It is also the first Rio Grande unit to be patched and painted in UP colors. Until 1997, this was DRGW 3122! Note the plates on the nose where the MARS and class lights were once located…

Up until August 12, 2005, this was DRGW 3109. While it is unfortunately that it now wears a large yellow patch, at least it still has a complete light package! Here, the unit is idling quietly in UP's 36th Street Yard.

The Rocky Local back up the spur toward the former site of Rocky Flats. The train has SP 7954, DRGW 3100, and UP 5245 for power, plus 20 cars going along for the ride. UP 5245 was first-ever Rio Grande unit to be patched or painted. It is former DRGW 3122.
