An RTD Light Rail train departs from the recently-relocated south Denver Station. This train is headed for the "W" Line. The "W" Line was completed a few months ago and largely follows the old BN Federal Branch right of way heading west. It ultimately terminates at the Jefferson County Building near Golden.

Destruction and construction! The concrete tie plant (owned by Rocla) that used to be located just east of BNSF's Rennicks Yard has been moved to Pueblo, CO. The reason? RTD and the FasTracks project! The old building for the tie plant has largely been torn down and can be see way off in the distance. Meanwhile, a lot of construction has already been completed on the new Light Rail flyover.

This is a shot that deserves the title "The Right Place at the Right Time"! A southbound Light Rail train approaches the camera as a northbound train sneaks past heads toward Union Station. The Light Rail trains were just a bonus as I was waiting on the BNSF manifest in the distance!

One of RTD's Light Rail trains heads north on the "D-Line", headed for downtown Denver. The tracks in the foreground are at the north end of UP's Burnham Yard facility. This was originally Rio Grande's primary maintenance yard.

It is just after 8 o'clock in the morning on the morning of the final run of the Summer Ski Train for the 2008 season. The sun is getting close to rising above the Union Station sign as seen from the station tracks.

I didn't alter this shot at all using PhotoShop. This is actually what came out of the camera (as the saying goes). It can be difficult to get shots like this as the neon can be a bit underexposed or the moon can be a bit overexposed. Hard to find a "happy medium".

The back of Union Station has been nicely decorated with lights for the Christmas Season. Unfortunately, Amtrak stops too far to the east to be able to really capture both the train and the lights in the same shot.

Union Station is all ready for Christmas! The decorating crew, as always, did a wonderful job with the front of Union Station looking down 17th Street in Denver. I particularly like the Christmas Tree of lights on the flag pole in the front.

A "D-Line" Light Rail train slows to a stop at the 16th street station (on California Street) in downtown Denver. 16th Street is a mall in Denver, and no commercial vehicles are allowed to drive on it.

Something of a maze exists at the Broadway Light Rail station in Denver. At this location, the new I-25 DTC line departs the existing line for the south. The new branch is scheduled to open in November 2006.

Ever wonder where the Ski Train lives during the off-season? You can see it if you ride Light Rail in either direction. The station at Osage and 10th is right next to Burnham, UP's Denver shops. The Ski Train sits hear in storage during the off-season.
