The local is staring down a red signal (where ownership of the track also switches from UP to BNSF) as the Brush Sub dispatcher has already cleared a BNSF manifest to come out of 31st Street and head south. I had heard the dispatcher contact this eastbound coal load and address them as "__P ___314 east" ... now, I didn't realize I had missed the leading six, and thought it might be SP 314! Alas, not that lucky on this particular day. The train is moving on an Advanced Approach signal, prepared to enter the siding at Leyden to meet four westbounds. The train stopped at the grade crossing at Cliff (at the east end) for a quick crew change. Meanwhile, Espee 9794 leads a unit pipe train tied down on the siding at Cliff. Unfortunately, the west end of Cliff is not the best place to get shots lighting-wise, and this unit pipe train led by Espee GP60 #9794 was tied down and not going anywhere for quite some time! In fact, these days, it'll probably never happen again! Unpatched Espee GP60 #9794 leads two CSX ES44DCs on a unit pipe train at Cliff. I can't even remember the last time I saw a mainline train led by a four axle unit prior to this shot. The train was tied down on the siding due to maintenance ahead. The head end of the train is approaching the siding of Bridgeport while the tail end is still coming out of Bridgeport Tunnel, 24 miles south of Grande Junction.
