The crew has about one hour left to work before running out of hours. After making its way through a handful of 15 MPH slow orders (due to heat), the train is on green signals on the main at Leyden, now only about 10 miles from Denver. Because the train has two six axle units, they could not wye on the spur. So, the power exited the west end of Rocky, came east through the siding, and is exiting the east end to go back on the main to then head east to North Yard. The rain has really started to come down, moisture that the Front Range really needs after a couple of weeks of dry, clear skies and temperatures in the upper 90°Fs. Of the nearly 4,000 units produced between January 1972 and October 1989, the majority of them are still in service today in once capacity or another. The train was projected to be called at 10am, but it ended up taking quite a bit longer before it was actually called. There is some colorful power on the headend of the train this evening.
