The train, chartered by Train Collectors Association, departed Union Station at 3pm and 45 minutes later, it was passing just west of Denver with the Denver skyline in the distance. The Ski Train will soon be running for its weekly Saturday trips over the summer. Why is it only nearly that time when looking at a shot of the Ski Train heading west? On this day, the Ski Train had been privately chartered for a trip to Winter Park and back, so the public won't be starting for another week. The Ski Train has a couple of tracks reserved at Burnham just for them. The train is broken up over two or three tracks and the power is kept on yet another track. Revenue runs are completed for the Ski Train until the summer season starts. The last few passengers are making their way off the train on Track 2 and onto the platform at Denver Union Station. You can barely see the train through the thick spring snow flakes falling at Leyden on this Thursday afternoon in March. March snow flakes in Colorado tend to be larger (and wetter) than in the winter. The Ski Train is getting close to completing its final Thursday Ski Train run of 2006-2007 season.
