Most of their trains have had a trio of units on the point with anywhere from zero to two DPUs on the back. There certainly are exceptions depending on the specific train, but more often than not, this has been the pattern. They've also been keeping their trains relatively short...under about 60 cars...allowing them to maintain track speed. Here, a Provo-Denver is at track speed as it passes through a snowy Leyden. In the last 15 years, BNSF has purchased GE's at a rate of almost 3-to-1. So it is far more common to catch a GE leader on BNSF trains than EMD. Despite some sunlight, the temperature was only 5°F, keeping the snow on the vegetation. BNSF's orange looks great as a trio of GEs lead the Provo-Lincoln through the scene.
