The experience on the train in the summer is completely different from winter. Many of the passenger in the summer are on board just for the experience of riding the train! The power is in a unique configuration with SKTX 283 leading, instead of SKTX 242. This is so the power can run around the train at Fraser and take the train "backward" back home to Denver. When climbing up toward Big Ten, the crew on the train noticed a small fire near Little Ten at the west end of Rocky. The Ski Train stopped at Clay (because Amtrak was originally going to run around them). However, due to the first, Amtrak got held at Rocky and the Ski Train continued west.
