Moffat Tunnel (UP) Ski Train
On a lazy, hazy, summer morning, the Ski Train passes west through Crescent on its way west to Winter Park. The experience on the train in the summer is completely different from winter. Many of the passenger in the summer are on board just for the experience of riding the train!

SKTX 283 leads the Ski Train west past the grade crossing at Crescent. Note a couple of the vestibule windows appear to be open...looks like some people are probably preparing for a shot of Gross reservoir, just around the bend!

The Ski Train comes through the S-Curve at Blue Mountain, accelerating slightly as it approaches the grade crossing at Blue Mountain. The power is in a unique configuration with SKTX 283 leading, instead of SKTX 242. This is so the power can run around the train at Fraser and take the train "backward" back home to Denver. The wye at Tabernash is plugged with MOW equipment!

After being delayed by a half hour or so due to a small grass fire, the Ski Train continues west at Plainview. When climbing up toward Big Ten, the crew on the train noticed a small fire near Little Ten at the west end of Rocky. The Ski Train stopped at Clay (because Amtrak was originally going to run around them). However, due to the first, Amtrak got held at Rocky and the Ski Train continued west.

Passengers work their way down the platform at Union Station as the Ski Train prepares for its first run west of the 2006 Summer Season. This scene has changed a lot from twenty years ago! The bridge in the foreground is the HOV/Bus ramp that goes to and from Denver/I-25.
