Temperatures are finally above freezing, but overcast skies are blocking the direct sunlight, so snow is still sticking around. Three SD70ACes lead the westbound Denver-Provo down the main at the east end of Eisele (Clay).

CP 7020, painted in a military tribute scheme, rests in the siding at Hogan's Alley with the Denver skyline offering a nice backdrop in the distance. CP 7020 is an SD70ACu, and in fact started life as an SD90MAC! Progress Rail rebuilt 60 of them for Canadian Pacific (and 100 for UP SD9043MACs for Norfolk Southern). The rebuilt unit was re-designated as an SD70ACu.

In 2019, Canadian Pacific painted five units in military-inspired paint schemes in tribute to the military. The units were unveiled on Remembrance Day (Canada's version of Veterans Day in the US). CP 7020 is one of the five units, and happened to be leading a southbound grain train through Denver on January 8, 2024.

CP 7020, one of five military tribute units on CP's roster, happened to lead a California-bound grain train through Denver. The train is tied down here on the siding in "Hogan's Alley", awaiting for a recrew. The grain train originated in Sweetwater, MT and is destined for Modesto, CA.

BNSF 1826 has a very interesting patch job. Not exactly sure what the history is behind this patch. BNSF is, in generally, very good at patching the paint color of the location the patch is applied when it is applied. This SD40-2 will be used on the Golden Switch in the coming week(s).
