It was a great game for its time, and it feature BNSF's High Line over Marias Pass. On the cover of the box was BNSF 4723. BNSF actually added a decal to the cab to advertise the game. Unlike the MGJNY, which had greens down the main, the Provo-Denver is slowing in the siding. It will be meeting a westbound UP coal empty, getting ready to come out of Denver. This one has a straight shot down to C&S Junction. There, it will hold for the westbound Zephyr, which is ready to depart Union Station right on time at 8:05am. With coal virtually gone at the moment, and UP only running a manifest three days a week each way (so one manifest each of six days of the week), BNSF has kept some trains moving on the Moffat with an average of two manifests (one each way) per day. The sun is far enough north to offer some pretty great morning light. Such is the case here with a trio of units leading BNSF's Provo-Denver. This track maintainer observed a defect in the rail around Coal Creek Canyon that is going to require repair before the westbound can get underway. The train has just met an eastbound BNSF manifest, but now needs to wait for some track repairs that were found by a hyrailer up at Coal Creek Canyon. In a time before computers or drones, engineers found a way for the tracks to rapidly gain elevation over a very short distance (as the crow flies). Note the new construction to the left of the train, including a new "Kum & Go" gas station that just opened a week ago. The houses to the left of the train make up the neighborhoods of Five Parks and Whisper Creek. Construction on Five Parks took place around 2000, and Whisper Creek around 2005. In the distance is man-made Stanley Lake. Because the lake is downwind from the former Rocky Flats - a plant that used to build triggers for nuclear bombs - locals often joke that Stanley Lake is home to three-headed fish and glowing plants.
