A well-blocked Beer Run enters yard track 3 in the lower (south) yard at Coors on a Sunday afternoon. The reference to the train being "well-blocked" means that there are groups of cars meant to be together and will likely remain together for their duration here at Coors. Today's train also has a pair of spartan cab unit that will be used on the Golden local for the next week. The local runs east out of the upper yard Monday through Friday.

BNSF's Beer Run has nearly completed the roughly 15 mile journey from BNSF's yard in Denver to the yard in Golden. The train is passing underneath McIntyre Street alongside Clear Creek.

Just outside of the lower (south) yard at Coors, there is a grain elevator which, to the best of my knowledge, is not in operation. The Sunday afternoon Beer Run crosses over Clear Creek as it makes creeps west. It will soon stop to align a derail and a few switches before entering yard track 3.

There are two yards at the Coors Brewery in Golden. Inbound trains head to one yard or the other at Terrill Jct. Today's train is heading for the south yard, so it took a left turn at Terrill Jct and paralleled Eldridge Road before crossing over CO-58.

A pair of BNSF GE DPUs bring up the tail end of a westbound Denver-Provo manifest. Dotsero is where the Moffat (via the Dotsero cutoff) and Tennessee Pass converged on the journey west. You can see a leg of the branch that heads west toward Tennessee Pass in the shot. The train has just crossed over the Eagle river, which joins the Colorado River here at Dotsero.

Roster shot of the "latest and greatest" to come out of GE's factories. An ET44C4 leads the eastbound Provo-Denver, currently in the siding at Leyden.

BNSF currently does not have any room in the yard for the Provo-Denver. Consequently, the train has been tied down in the siding. A van came and picked up the crew and here the train will wait until there is room in the yard and a relief crew can be sent out to the train. Of note, a relatively new ET44C4 is on the point.

An SD70ACe, an ES44AC, and an AC4400CW lead an eastbound coal load at Eisele (Clay). The train is only 84 cars long, so there are no mid-train swing helpers on this coal load. Just three units on the head end and two DPUs bringing up the rear.

A BNSF coal load is passing by a lot of MOW at Plain. Several track panels, sometimes referred to as "snap track" are laid out both on the house track and alongside it. The coal load met the Zephyr here at Plain, and has a clear signal coming out the east end of the siding. So it will not need to stop. In the distance, you can see the two end DPUs coming out of Tunnel 2.

An eastbound BNSF coal load, which loaded at the Savage loadout near Price, UT, is coming through Rainbow Cut on the siding at Plain. Hiding behind the coal load in the distance is the westbound Zephyr, ready to get a Clear (green) signal as soon as the coal train clears the west switch.

The westbound Zephyr holds the main at Plain as an eastbound BNSF coal load enters the siding. You can see the rest of the coal train coming out of Tunnel 3 in the distance. This was actually a very well-planned meet by DS-80. Amtrak came to a stop at the west switch just as the coal load popped out of Tunnel 2.

The sun moves to the western sky as a southbound BNSF wind blade train makes its way in to Boulder. The train is configured 1x1, meaning there is a single unit on the head end and, as seen here, a single DPU bringing up the rear of the train. As the work day comes to an end, traffic on the Diagonal Highway is starting to pick up. This highway connects the cities of Boulder and Longmont and sees a lot of traffic over the course of a day. The flatirons of the Rockies stand tall in the distance under summer clouds.
