BNSF's eastbound Provo-Denver, with a Canadian Pacific unit second out on the head end, just had a fresh crew show up and get on board to take the train in to Denver. Meanwhile, the westbound California Zephyr is right on time as it meets the train, heading west.

A pair of EMDs, from slightly separate eras, are bringing up the tail end of BNSF's Provo-Denver. BNSF 9356 is an SD70ACe and BNSF 9687 is an SD70MAC, still sporting the final BN paint scheme, the "green and cream" scheme.

SD70MACs do not generally show up on BNSF's trains on the Moffat. However, every once in awhile, they do make an appearance. Such is the case this morning as a "green and cream" SD70MAC, BNSF 9687 (of BN heritage) is bringing up the rear of the train, currently in the siding at Rocky.

For you modelers out there, there is a radio tower near the west end of Eisele (Clay) along the right-of-way. The westbound Zephyr rolls by right on time on its journey west.

The westbound Zephyr has seven Superliners right now, most likely due to an increase in demand with holiday travels upon us. The train is just about to enter Little Ten Curve, approaching the old west end of Rocky, before it was lengthened around 1990.

A pair of P42DCs lead the westbound Zephyr through the high/wide detector at MP 8.4. The train is crossing Carr Street in Arvada. Fun fact, I could see this section of track from my elementary school (Peck) when I was a kid. On recess, I would often climb the monkey bars and look toward the tracks in hopes of catching a Rio Grande train!

Just west of the grade crossing at Carr Street is the "high/wide" detector at MP 8.4. The wires around this detector equals the tunnel with the smallest clearance. If anything is hanging off a car on a train, it'll trip the wire. The train would then stop to check to find the car is cannot fit through the tunnel(s). In the distance, the westbound Zephyr is approaching.

The westbound Zephyr is on Main 2, approach a green signal at Arvada (CP DS007). There, the train will enter the single main track for the journey west. As you can see, the Zephyr actually enters the single track main through the diverging route.

I learned photography from my dad, and as a kid, he always shot black and white. In honor of him, and to get back to my nostalgic roots, I have been trying to do a little more black and white photography these days! This westbound BNSF coal load is headed west on the main at Rocky, BNSF 9174 bringing up the tail end.

An AC4400CW and a pair of ES44ACs lead a coal load west on the mainline at Rocky. Even though it is not yet 3 o'clock, the train is just minute away from shadows with the low setting sun.

The only westbound coal load you can find on the Moffat is approaching the narrowest part of Barbara's Gulch. This train was loaded at the Spring Creek Mine in Montana and is heading for a power station in Valmy, NV.

At first glance, it might appear as though all three of these BNSF GEs is sporting the Heritage 2 scheme. However, the third unit is indeed wearing the New Image scheme. The sun is catching the yellow stripes just right to make it difficult to recognize!
