They have a tent setup (out of frame to the left) that is within 10 feet of the mainline. The MOW worker is presumably advising them that they are (dangerously) trespassing and that they need to leave ASAP. A UP Maintenance worker overheard the conversation and drove down to inform the campers that they are trespassing and that they should break camp and leave immediately. This first tunnel on the former Rio Grande is 366 feet long. As you can see, short enough for both ends of the Zephyr to be outside the tunnel. The volume of oil trains is still nowhere near what the volume of coal trains once were. Between BNSF and UP, there is an oil train once every few days lately. Conversely, there's only been a coal train once every one or two months. Here, a UP oil train makes its way east on the main at Rocky. The terrain is starting to green up a bit after a fairly wet winter. Most of the tress in the area are still largely naked as a colder-than-average March and April have delayed the appearance of leaves. As you can see, the asphalt has been laid for the main road (Canyon Pines Drive). The unearthed dirt between the road and the tracks is land available for purchase for construction of future homes. This subdivision has been rumored for 20 years, but only recently started to come to fruition. An eastbound oil train descends down the 2% grade from Tunnel 1 as the intersection of Moffat Road and Canyon Pines Drive is in the foreground, the asphalt having been laid for the new roads. BNSF's 31st Street Yard had no room for the train, so it was tied down in the siding here. A BNSF crew will be dispatched to retrieve it once room opens up. The train is likely headed for the transload facility at Wash, UT, just east of Price. From there, it will return east over the Moffat and east on the plains to its final destination.
