Something of a maze exists at the Broadway Light Rail station in Denver. At this location, the new I-25 DTC line departs the existing line for the south. The new branch is scheduled to open in November 2006.

One of few Espee units still managing to hold on without a patch, SP 7954 is currently assigned to the South/Rocky local out of North Yard. The unit was sitting in North Yard Sunday afternoon waiting for a crew to be called for the next local.

Looks Union Pacific enough, right? However, underneath all that yellow paint - if it hasn't been blasted off - you'll find nothing but black and orange! This SD50 was once DRGW 5511…

Ever wonder where the Ski Train lives during the off-season? You can see it if you ride Light Rail in either direction. The station at Osage and 10th is right next to Burnham, UP's Denver shops. The Ski Train sits hear in storage during the off-season.

A northbound Light Rail train sits in the station at Broadway and I-25. The track in the foreground will be the new southbound track leading to the I-25/DTC portion of Light Rail once it is open. The southbound track for the existing southwest branch is on the left side of the picture.

This is the first Wisconsin Central unit that I have ever seen in person. I believe that this SD45 might still have its 20-cylinder (3600 HP) prime mover! The unit led the "kick den" (KCKDEN) intermodal train from Kansas City to Denver early in the day.

A rather shabby looking GP35 and a very clean looking GP30 bring in the "BN Transfer" train from UP at North Yard. The units will take the train down into 38th street for classification.
