This westbound Z-train has a single SD70ACe bringing up the rear as it hustles toward a crew change in Cheyenne on Main 2. Most of the train consist of COFCs (Container of Flat Car), but there are a few TOFCs (Trailer on Flat Car) with UPS trailers as well.

A westbound UP Z-Train is on Main 2 about 20 miles east of Cheyenne. Generally speaking, trains follow the "right hand rule" on the Sidney Sub. However, due to maintenance on Main 1, Main 2 is the only main open here at the moment.

UP 4014 makes a reverse move on the west leg of the wye at Speer Jct. The train is leaving Cheyenne without a diesel, which is very cool to see and rather uncommon!

UP's steam train, including American flag-inspired boxcars, cross over BNSF's Front Range Sub. Alas, no BNSF's train were around to set up the "over-under" shot.

Something that has become more and more common these days is for railroads to mix manifest trains wither intermodal trains. The first part of this train is a manifest, while the second part is intermodal. A pair of mid-train swing helpers assist on the journey west.

One of the more popular spots for a shot of UP 4014 between Denver and Cheyenne is at the Terry Ranch Road overpass, just a few miles into Wyoming north of the Colorado border. This is near the very northern end of the Greeley Subdivision. Several dozen folks are gathered here at the overpass for a view of the northbound steam special.
