Rumor has it that the West Elk Mine (the only mine currently loading by rail in Colorado) has some new contracts and is increasing their output, with the intention of loading more than 30 trains per months. The eastbound load approaching is hoping they'll be able to fit on the main so the westbound empty can continue, clearing the east end. However, a westbound coal empty is waiting here in the siding at Eisele (Clay) for the coal load on the main. The empty is up against the signal at the west end, but still has about four cars to go in order to get in the clear at the east end. The dispatcher is gambling a little bit, having two coal trains meet at Eisele (Clay), which at 5,750 feet, is one of the shorter sidings on the Moffat. I am not sure when they will be returning to the train. In the meantime, a pair of UP SD70Ms continue to fill in as the power. The train is headed west at Plain, ready to make another round trip between Denver and Salt Lake City. It'll return east here next Sunday. At certain points, UP oil trains seem to have completely disappeared from the Moffat. At the moment, however, they are certainly back. An eastbound load is leaving the east end of Eisele (Clay) on the coolest day in several weeks. An eastbound UP oil train is slowly rolling on the main track at Eisele (Clay). BNSF's Denver-Provo and the Canyon Spirit are both in the siding for the meet.
