For many months, UP GP60s 1900 and 1901 (formerly Rio Grande 3154 and 3155) have worked the Rocky Local with a Rio Grande GP40-2 spliced in between. On this day, DRGW 3100 gets the duty. As the westbound Ski Train climbs out of Rocky toward Big Ten, I took this shot looking northwest. Yep, it happened for a very short time between the fall of 1997 and the deactivation of most of the C30-7's in 1998 and 1999. This was also before BNSF started using DPU on its westbound manifests on the Moffat. Manned helpers would push the train up the hill to East Portal where they would cut off and return to Denver.
