The train has just snaked its way through the curves at the base of Coal Creek Canyon and is about to disappear in to Tunnel 1. The units were unveiled on Remembrance Day (Canada's version of Veterans Day in the US). CP 7020 is an SD70ACu, and in fact started life as an SD90MAC! Progress Rail rebuilt 60 of them for Canadian Pacific (and 100 for UP SD9043MACs for Norfolk Southern). That trainset is actually the Winter Park Express! The Zephyr set out the WPE on Trak 5 at Union Station. The Zephyr then put its power back on the train on Track 4. AMTK 142 and AMTK 192 will be the power for the Winter Park Express, at least at the start of the season. It is a rather cold 15°F (-10°C) on the platform at Union Station this evening. The Zephyr just dropped off the Winter Park Express trainset, led by AMTK 142, sitting on Track 5. Once the Zephyr gets its mechanical release, it will pull away from the station, leaving the Winter Park Express equipment behind for the upcoming ski season.
