This coal train is rather unusual though in that it is empty! When coal trains do (and did) run on the Moffat, typically eastbounds are loaded, after loading at a mine in the Rockies. The Zephyr itself has the Superliners that have been a standard staple for nearly 50 years. The two private cars on the tail end represent an era long gone, when the railroads hauled beautiful dome cars on their lines.
