Why? It was the very first Rio Grande unit (GP40-2 or otherwise) to be patched and added to UP's roster. UP 5234 started life as DRGW 3122. In 1997, the unit was given a patch and renumbered to UP 5245. Here, ten years later, the unit still retains the same number and leads the Landmark Local west through Fruita on its way to Mack for some switching.
