A northbound coal empty with a single ES44AC on the point is tied down on Main 2 at South Denver. With this being the Memorial Day holiday weekend, it could be quite awhile before a crew is ready to take it. Note Pikes Peak standing tall in the distance.

A southbound BNSF manifest (Denver, CO to Amarillo, TX) has some unique power with a KCS Belle and NS "Catfish" elephant style on the head end. The train is currently waiting on Main 1 to Walnut for a green signal to continue south.

A very long (roughly 6,400 feet) BNSF Provo-Denver has just tied down in the siding. The train was originally going to tie down at Cliff, but was too long for the siding. So it continued down to Rocky. Unfortunately, the crew van was not notified of the change and is waiting up at Cliff. The van has now been informed and is on its way to Rocky. Meanwhile, the Zephyr heads north on the main at Eisele (Clay) in the background.

An eastbound BNSF oil train sits idly in the siding at Rocky. Note the purple-backed "D" sign, indicating the derail is set on the siding. The train showed up right around 2am and tied down and has been waiting for a relief crew ever since.

The train version of riding off into the sunset! BNSF's Denver-Provo has clear (green) signals ahead just west of Byers Canyon. After the tail end of the train is clear of the canyon, the train will pick up some speed between here at Kremmling.

Just west of Byers Canyon, BNSF's Denver-Provo is heading directly into the sun as it gets closer to the horizon. The train had to sit in the siding at Granby for over an hour, waiting for both the Zephyr and UP's officer's special to get through.

BNSF's westbound Beer Run descends the grade toward the upper yard at Coors in Golden. The train is paralleling Farmer's Highline Canal. This canal branches off from Clear Creek not far behind the camera and runs all through Golden, Arvada, and Westminster. It actually crosses underneath UP's Moffat Tunnel Sub just east of Simms Street!

A trio of GEs, each representing different eras in technology, lead BNSF's Provo-Denver, currently stopped on Main 2 at Tennyson Street. The lead unit is an ET44C4. The second unit is an ES44C4. Finally, third out, is a C44-9W. Just after this picture was taken, the train got a light at C&S Junction and continued east to Prospect Junction.
