It might appear that the signal is displaying a red over dark aspect, but it is actually red over flashing red...the shot is just in the middle of the flash. There currently is no route for the train to get through the yard to Rennicks, so it has to hold here for one eastbound manifest. This Z-train, which originated in Chicago and is headed for Denver, is the hottest train that runs in to Denver on either UP or BNSF. Amtrak actually ran through the siding at Keensburg so the Z-train could get back up to track speed more quickly once the Zephyr cleared. CP 7020 is an SD70ACu, and in fact started life as an SD90MAC! Progress Rail rebuilt 60 of them for Canadian Pacific (and 100 for UP SD9043MACs for Norfolk Southern). The units were unveiled on Remembrance Day (Canada's version of Veterans Day in the US). The train is tied down here on the siding in "Hogan's Alley", awaiting for a recrew. The grain train originated in Sweetwater, MT and is destined for Modesto, CA.
