It is the siding of Orsa. Even with the addition of CTC to the Joint Line, the siding is still just has hand throws at either end and likely hasn't been used in years. With the creation of the Joint Line in World War 1, the bridge was removed and the tracks now run parallel through here, with a crossover between Main 1 and Main 2. The head end of this train is technically on track owned by BNSF while the back of the train is technically on track owned by UP. Main 1 is generally used for southbound traffic, has CTC (Centralized Traffic Control), and is controlled/dispatched by BNSF in Fort Worth. Main 2, which is located in the foreground, has TWC/ABS (Track Warrant Control with Automatic Block Signals), and is controlled/dispatched by UP in Omaha. While this looks like it could possibly be an eastbound BNSF coal load, it is actually a westbound load with a trio of DPUs bringing up the rear. The train is diving in to the Moffat Tunnel, ultimately headed for Valmy, NV. The dawning sun also illuminates the fall colors, still showing bright on October 2. The loaded coal trains run west over the Moffat. They run with three units on the head end and three units on the tail end. In this shot, a BNSF manifest is move from right to left, going from the UP's Glidden Sub to the BNSF Galveston Sub. BNSF trains also cross the diamond in the shot, remaining entirely on the Galveston Sub. Likewise, UP trains cross the diamond on the other track on the Glidden Sub, and KCS trains cross the diamond, but take the diverging route on the left side of the shot toward Mexico. UP's Glidden Sub (originally part of SP's Sunset Route) meets with BNSF's Galveston Sub and BNSF train, such as this one, move from trackage rights on UP's Glidden Sub on to their own tracks on the Galveston Sub. The Galveston Sub also continues on the right side of the shot toward Galveston, TX. Then, in the foreground at the switch, the KCS Rosenberg Sub starts, branching off from UP's Glidden Sub, heading south toward Mexico.
