I-25 fairly closely parallels Main 1 between Castle Rock and Skyview Lane, whereas Main 2 is much farther to the east, and much harder to get pictures of! However, the predominate grade is still a step one, meaning the four units on this southbound coal load (two on the point, two on the rear) are all in Run 8 and working as hard as they can to keep the 124-car coal train rolling south. The crew brought this coal load to a stop here at Rocky nearly four hours earlier, before sunrise. The train was tied down, the derail at the east end of the siding was set, and the crew was picked up. Not sure if there wasn't a rested crew available to take the train to town in the pre-dawn hours, or if the yard said the train couldn't come in yet. You might even mistake this train (at first glance) as a unit oil train. However, the lack of a buffer car between the power and the first tank car indicates this is not a unit oil train. A GP60M (now a GP60M-3 after a rebuild) was the third unit on this Provo-Denver. While I do not know for sure, I suspect this unit may have been used in switching either in Grand Junction or Provo.
