However, there are a few hiding amongst the pine trees as seen here at the west switch of Clay. From Highway 72, the tracks through Clay appear to be relatively straight. In reality, though, there are several curves as you head through the block. The clay was a fire red color and, for awhile, the name of the siding was in fact Fireclay. The siding here at Clay has a permanent 12 MPH slow order on it and heavy loaded trains are not allowed through the siding. No doubt because Clay is a bit more inaccessible than the rest. A bit of a hike through Jefferson County Open Space can get you into the area though. The green season typically lasts for a few weeks in May (maybe June), but things get brown pretty fast as summers tend to be dry.
