The morning Zephyr, running right on time, is passing by the north end of North Yard. The train is just about to cross the diamond with the UP Belt Line. Note the UP train, the MNYGR, getting ready to head for the Greeley Sub and, eventually, Green River, WY.

AMTK 190 passes underneath one of the only remaining Rio Grande signal bridges still in existence. This is at Utah Junction at the north end of North Yard. The Zephyr is on the main track, the North Yard siding the next track to the right. The next track to the right is actually the North Yard lead, and it is not in CTC limits. This is why there are only two sets of signals on the bridge.

As UP 9795 heads south out of La Salle, take note of the siding as it bows out and away from the mainline before converging with the main at the switch. This is very common with many sidings and is done to provide a better angle for the siding as it joins the main at the switch. This can allow trains to proceed through the switch at a slightly higher speed than they would otherwise be allowed.
