The second P42DC is no longer loading and both are covered in oil. A BNSF ES44C4 was added in Denver to assist with the climb west. Pretty sure it is the first time I have ever (in the Denver area) shot the eastbound Zephyr in the morning and the westbound Zephyr in the afternoon. The crew of the train is actually tying the train down on Main 1. The SUV to the right will take the crew back to the yard office. Typically, southbounds are tied down in the siding known as Hogan's Alley. However, as you can see, there is already a train tied down there. So, for the time being, Main 2 will the only track open in either direction between Walnut Street and South Denver. In the distance, Longs Peak stands tall at 14,259 feet above sea level. It has over 35 yard tracks in several places as well as a full car repair facility. The south side of the yard (far left in this frame) has three tracks under CTC control. This is part of the construction of the new Canyon Pines subdivision. The development covers 180 acres and, when finished, will have about 90 single-family homes running up and over the top of Tunnel 1. Three units are on the point and a pair of units, both facing west, are bringing up the tail end. The train is not particularly long today at about 4,500 feet.
