Someone once said the only thing that stays the same is change. For the past few months, UP has periodically been running this coal empty eastbound on the Moffat. Once arriving in Denver, the train will head north on the Greeley Sub and eventually the Yoder Sub, making its way to the Power River Basin where it will load. The loaded train will head west through Wyoming on the Overland Route. Note the red flag that UP has put up on the siding at Leyden, protecting the empty well cars that have been stored for over four months now.

As is typical for loaded UP coal trains on the Moffat, a trio of units has been cut in as mid-train swing helpers. A pair of ES44ACs and an SD70ACe have the duty today at Plain. This trio will be cut out when the train arrives in Denver. Note the paved road in the background. That is the far east (north) end of the new Canyon Pines neighborhood. Note that it does *not* connect in with Plainview Road.
