PTC onboard UP 5306 seemed to believe the green signal at west Plain was not in fact green, and sent the train into emergency after the train passed the green signal. They are my personal favorite six-axle unit since the Tunnel Motors. They were released in a few phases, and UP 4953 represents my personal favorite phase (Phase 2). The unit still has its classic EMD wide nose (without the "notch"), but also had the slight angle on the radiator houses, similar to the SD45. The spur runs nearly five miles to the north, The Acosta aggregate plant on the north end of the spur ships by rail. Or, at least, it did...the West Local hasn't serviced the plant in several months, making it seem as though the plant is no longer shipping by rail. West, then east, and repeat, with one day off. The train is generally feast or famine, with today's train being on the feast side with 103 cars. Many of the cars on the train are loaded coal hoppers. Two of these units, EMDX 1608 and EMDX 1609, have been at the Transportation Technology Center near Pueblo, but are now making their way west.
