This southbound Denver to Amarillo manifest just received a Diverging Clear (red over green) signal at Walnut Street. The train is starting to throttle up and will crossover from Main 1 to Main 2 at Walnut.

A southbound BNSF manifest (Denver, CO to Amarillo, TX) has some unique power with a KCS Belle and NS "Catfish" elephant style on the head end. The train is currently waiting on Main 1 to Walnut for a green signal to continue south.

Three units, none if which are "natives" of Colorado, bring up the tail end of an eastbound loaded oil train. Most likely, BNSF will turn this train over to Kansas City Southern (now CPKC) someplace further east.

This BNSF oil train has three DPUs on the end, but not a single one is BNSF! There is an NS "catfish", a KCS SD70ACe, and a rather rare gray KCSM AC4400CW. The gray KCSM unit has been significantly tagged and is looking a bit grungy.

An eastbound BNSF (loaded) oil train snakes away from the camera, under the Colorado Highway 93 overpass, into and through Barbara's Gulch. A KCS Retro Belle makes for a nice view of the rear DPU.

An SD70ACe and a KCS AC4400CW bring up the tail end of a loaded BNSF oil train. I love catching as many Retro Belles as possible now that the merger between Kansas City Southern and Canadian Pacific is complete. It is only a matter of time before this KCS paint scheme fades in to history.

This eastbound BNSF oil train had a nice surprise as a Kansas City Southern AC4400CW is the trailing DPU on the main at Plain.

In 1996, when the Mexican government privatized freight railroad operations, one railroad formed was Transportación Ferroviaria Mexicana (TFM). Kansas City Southern was one of the creators of and stock holder in the railroad. In 2005, KCS bought out its partners and took full control of the railroad. The name was changed to Kansas City Southern de Mexico, a subsidiary of Kansas City Southern. The subsidiary had its own fleet in the Retro Belle scheme, but with "de Mexico" printed on the unit. Here is an ES44AC sporting that paint scheme.

This is a paint scheme that I am definitely going to miss! Granted, Kansas City Southern units don't make it to Colorado particularly often, but when they do, they are great to see. With the merger of CP and KCS, creating CPKC, both the Canadian Pacific and KCS paint schemes will be replaced by a new scheme.

A pair of CPKC units (one CP, one KCS) are quite a ways from home as they lead a coal empty north on the Greeley Sub. The train is slowing for the grade crossing at MP 29.99 (County Road 22). A previous train reported that the main lights and gates were working, but the lights on one of the gates were broken off and hanging down. Consequently, an "XH" order was placed on the crossing. This requires all trains to slow to ensure no cars are going through the crossing when they shouldn't.

This coal empty was holding south of the siding of Brighton so as not to block grade crossing through town. When the southbound it was meeting showed up, the train pulled in to the siding. However, nobody informed the crew that the southbound is a local that is blocking the north end of the siding, preventing the coal empty from leaving! So the crossing in Brighton wound up blocked for over 30 minutes anyway.

The sun is not quite high enough yet to fully light all of the power sitting at BNSF's engine facility ("the house"). Of note is the C44-9W in the foreground on the left that appears to have been sold to Kansas City Southern!
