A Zebra-striped full body Canadian National SD60F was included in the consist. Canadian national is the only railroad that ordered several full body units from EMD and GE after 1970. This is an SD70I, which is like the SD70M, but with an EMD WhisperCab. Only 26 units were produced and all went to Canadian National. Not a bad catch for the middle of Colorado! Each Spring, the cars are moved to their summer base in Council Bluffs, IA. This year, the 20 car train had the CNW Heritage Unit (UP 1995) on the point as it made its journey. Internally, the unit is just an EMD SD60. However, there are no external walkways. You can walk alongside the prime mover inside the shell of the unit to get to the next unit. Rumor has it that one of UP's Board Members was a fan (or perhaps even worked for) the CNW, which is likely why this is the second heritage unit chosen for the trip.
