The Beer Run approach the switch at Terrill Jct. There are two separate yards in Golden, the "lower yard" and the "upper yard". This switch here at Terrill Jct determines which of the two yards trains will enter. The switch is currently lined for the upper yard, but the crew will throw the switch to enter the lower yard.

UP's intermodal yard in Denver is right next to their 36th Street Yard. A crew works to unload some containers off a train as a baretable (empty well cars) train arrives, led by a BNSF C44-9W. Whether these well cars will be used for containers, or simply put in storage, remains to be seen.

Baretable trains...which are trains that have empty well cars used for hauling (intermodal) containers...are some of the lowest priority trains on any railroad. They do not generate any revenue as the railroad is just relocating the empty cars. A single power-shared BNSF C44-9W is the power on this southbound, getting ready to leave the siding at Platteville.

A UP conductor from on the southbound baretable gives a roll by to the northbound North Yard, CO to Green River, WY. Many of the cars on the northbound manifest are likely headed for Salt Lake City, and once would have run over the Moffat on the MNYRO. But it is has been several years since the MNYRO ran.

Here at Brush, the BNSF Brush Sub continues to the north toward Sterling, while the BNSF Akron Sub breaks off and starts heading east toward Lincoln, NE and (eventually) Chicago, IL. The signals in the distance are where the two subdivision converge when heading west toward Denver. Power for a local sit alongside the two mainlines.
