Ferromex is the main railroad in Mexico, along with Kansas City Southern de Mexico. This particular unit looks like it could stand a bit of fresh paint. The door is also open. Both Main 2 and Main 3 are blocked by tied down trains between Littleton and Englewood, effectively turning that part of the triple track into a single track main. There are two southbounds that needs to come through before it will be this trains turn. The train's cars carry the blades for wind turbines, obviously currently empty. A trio of units bring up the rear of the train as it rolls east out the east end of Crescent. In the distance, you can just spy the plains through Elderado Canyon. BNSF seems to lease KCS and KCSM units somewhat often as it is not super uncommon to catch one of these guys on a BNSF train in Colorado. The train will meet a westbound oil empty at Plain. The westbound is actually already at Plain, awaiting the arrival of this eastbound. There is a classic water tower that still stands in Olde Town, as seen here in this shot. Most of Olde Town itself is behind the train. You can see the classic architecture of some of the old buildings. RTD's G-Line commuter (single) track is the other track that the BNSF train is running next to. It finally worked out that I could get the shot today. The train passes alongside the RTD "G-Line" commuter rail (single) track and the Olde Town Arvada station. This is located right off Grandview Avenue. You can see the classic buildings that make up much of the classic district here. BNSF is the only US Class 1 railroad that has not done a true heritage unit. However, in 2020, for the 25th anniversary of the creation of BNSF, they released several of these anniversary units with stickers of the key railroads that went into making BNSF. The train was recrewed south of Denver on the Joint Line and came across UP Main 1 at Prospect to get to the Moffat, completely bypassing BNSF's actual yard in Denver. Of the four big US Class 1 Railroads, BNSF is the only railroad that hasn't done any true heritage units. The closest they have come is with several of these units that have stickers of predecessor railroads on the long hood. These were released in 2020, the 25th anniversary of BNSF. The train has a Diverging Advanced Approach (red over flashing yellow) ahead at C&S Junction. There, the train will cross over from Main 1 to Main 3 so it reach BNSF's yard. While there is a siding here, it is not a CTC-controlled siding and it is not used for meets. Instead, the oil train is stopped on Main 1 while the Zephyr heads west on Main 2. Most trains can fit between Tennyson Street and Lamar Street here, so it is fairly common stopping place if trains cannot proceed east to the yards for whatever reason.
