Front Range (BNSF) CSX
Something of a rare appearance here in Colorado was made by this CSX SD70ACe. The unit was part of the consist on the HLAUDEN on BNSF's Front Range Sub. The train was stopped and tied down on the siding at Broomfield. This particular unit is headed for home after being tested by Montana Rail Link for several days.

Moffat Tunnel (UP) CSX
Two CSX "Dark Future" ES44DCs help to power a loaded unit pipe train west on the Moffat. These GEVOs are less than three months old and it was a rare treat to see them so far from their home. Unfortunately, I was stuck with some rather awful back-lighting...

Yard Shots CSX
The "CSX" on the side of CSX 8828 looks more like just "CS" at this point. Leaking oil has done a pretty good job of obscuring much of the engineers side of the unit. Rebuilt from an SD40, the unit currently wears the so-called "Dark Future" paint scheme.

Yard Shots CSX
On a very wet, rainy afternoon in September, I came across an unexpected visitor at BNSF's 38th street engine house. A CSX ES44DC wearing the "Dark Future" scheme was getting soaked in the down pour.

CSX 50 is stopped at Ulster street, waiting for 36th street to grant permission for this coal empty to pass through the yard. It was quite a treat to find a train with pure CSX power, even if it was only two units!

An SD70MAC (phase 2 - note the flared radiators) was the third unit on the empty sulfur train on this Sunday. The train was stopped at Broomfield to wait for a southbound that was, at the time of this picture, just south of Fort Collins!

A very rare engine indeed in 2005 is a classic General Electric "U-Boat". Built in the 1970's, CSX is one of the only class one railroads to still have active U-Boats on the roster. One of these rare units, CSX B36-7 #5867, made an appearance in Colorado on the MLAUDEN. At the time of this photo, the 5867 was one of 87 B36-7's still on CSX's roster (in the number range 5807-5925).
