After having received a track warrant from DS-80, SP 173 is leaving the west yard of Grand Junction for the North Fork Branch. The train has a warrant all the way to Roubideau, 44 miles away.

I NEVER thought I would again see the day when SEVEN geeps could be found on the point of a train. It happen on this day though, when the Rocky Local was powered by three Espee GP40(M)-2s, three Grande GP40-2's, and a UP GP39-2. Black and white just seemed right for this picture, as it looks like it could have come straight out of the early 1980's!!!
