Not many people have seen the Ft Collins local and as a bonus, the day I chased it, it had three unpatched GP40's. The second GP40 was DRGW 3126. The train is crossing over the Poudre River.

The eastbound MGJNY had a (former) Rio Grande SD50 on it on this chilly April day. Until receiving its yellow patches, UP 9859 was DRGW 5515. The unit made a few runs around Colorado at the time this picture was taken.

The Colorado Springs switcher on this day was a Rio Grande GP40-2. Coupled behind the unit is a Rio Grande caboose #01513. The caboose was, unfortunately, so badly covered in graffiti that I did not include a picture of it.

After crossing over to main two at Sedalia, the south local is returning to North Yard. It is currently crossing over County Line Road in Littleton, approaching the end of the track controlled by track warrant. Another two miles up the tracks and the local will be within the triple track mainline controlled by CTC.

These units wear the paint schemes of two of my favorite railroads. The first, obviously, is Rio Grande. However, I have always like Santa Fe, particularly the blue and yellow scheme. Although this Santa Fe SD40-2 has been patched BNSF, it still looks good. The Rio Grande GP40-2 is the lead unit on the eastbound Rocky Local, and the Santa Fe SD40-2 is the third unit on a empty BNSF coal train bound for the Wildcat coal mine in Utah on the Utah Railway.
