Additionally, BNSF tends to have more power hanging out in Denver compared to UP. As seen here, the service and ready tracks around the shops are packed full of power. I don't see a lot of these units in Denver, and with the CPKC merger, it is only a matter of time before this paint scheme fades in to history. The train is just east of Leyden, crossing over Church Ditch, a man-made irrigation ditch that originates from Clear Creek in Golden. The train is leaving Leyden behind and is crossing the 80th Avenue grade crossing. This is the only grade crossing between North Yard and Leyden that is not a quiet zone crossing. The Warbonnet does have an order battery cover behind the cab. This component is compatible with all like models, and is frequently changed out. Also of note, half the nose has just be straight up repainted in red. Regardless, the unit still looks mighty good, nearly 30 years after the BNSF merger. The train had been tied down in the siding at Rocky since the pre-dawn hours, but a relief crew finally came and got it. In 2024, a scene that has been repeated more times than can be counted, a trailing DPU will be the last part of the train in daylight until the head end emerges in Winter Park. These units earned the nickname "goat boats". The history there is in two parts. "Goat" comes from logo of the Great Northern railroad, from which much of the inspiration of the Heritage scheme was taken. Since Elderado Canyon near Tunnel 8, the tracks have (off and on) been following South Boulder Creek, located to the right of the tracks in the frame. In the Rio Grande days, the west switch of Cliff was interesting as it was a "Y" switch. There was a bit of a diverging both for the main and the siding.
